PBS Will Move Headquarters to Crystal City
PBS Decision Reflects Crystal City Transformation
Washington, D.C.--Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and Charles E. Smith Commercial Realty, a division of Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE:VNO) today announced that PBS will be relocating its headquarters to Crystal City.  PBS will occupy approximately 130,000 square feet on several floors of 2100 Crystal Drive—a building that will be fully redeveloped.
"PBS is delighted to be relocating its headquarters to Crystal City, as part of its broad revitalization," said PBS President and CEO Pat Mitchell.  "The re-location of our headquarters has been a very thoughtful process, as we balance our special operational needs, cost management targets, employee satisfaction goals, market image and value objectives. Our new location in Crystal City fulfills all of these important requirements admirably."
PBS' new headquarters is in the heart of Crystal City’s new "Main Street," which features sophisticated, urban restaurant concepts.  The new streetscape, now opening, will create a new "downtown" gathering place in the Washington area.

"This PBS lease makes a powerful statement about the transformation of Crystal City and its appeal as a corporate headquarters location,” said Mitchell N. Schear, President of Charles E. Smith Commercial Realty.  "PBS is a perfect fit with the fresh and creative new energy now in Crystal City."
PBS’ new building at 2100 Crystal Drive includes a contemporary new main entry and lobby, which will incorporate and reflect the PBS brand. This extensive redevelopment also includes new mechanical, elevator, electrical, and life safety systems, new restrooms, and other improvements.

The Staubach Company represented PBS in the transaction and will also serve as project manager for construction.  The new PBS space will be designed by Gensler Associates to foster creativity in an efficient and collaborative design, while incorporating modern media technology and infrastructure. PBS will relocate to their new offices in February of 2006.
